We will show you what the new alternative to cow's milk is, how healthy it is and what its health benefits are.

What is pea milk made of?
Pea milk is made from protein from yellow peas, water, sunflower oil, rapeseed oil, or algae oil. The sweetened variety also uses sugar from beetroot. In addition, there is a water-soluble polysaccharide (gellan), phosphates, and vanilla or chocolate flavorings.
What does pea milk taste like?
Pea milk is not a thick, viscous mass, but rather a bit creamy and white. It tastes watery like soy or almond milk, but has nothing to do with the taste of cow's milk. It is creamy in taste and feels a bit furry on the tongue. It leaves a sour, bitter, nutty aroma in the mouth.
Nutritional values
Milk is particularly convincing with its high protein content. There are 8 grams of protein per 100 ml of milk. This is the same as soy and cow's milk. In addition to the high protein content, there is also about 13 percent iron, 30 percent vitamin D and 10 percent vitamin A. The oil in the milk provides valuable omega-3 fatty acids.
Calories
100 ml of unsweetened pea milk contains about 38 calories. Skimmed milk contains about 43 calories. Sweetened pea milk contains about 50 calories per 100 ml, and vanilla and chocolate flavoured milks have slightly more.
How sustainable is pea milk?
In terms of sustainability, pea milk takes precedence over almond and soy milk, as the high productivity of peas results in relatively little cultivation space and water consumption. In the case of almond milk, the high water consumption and low agricultural potential are still criticized worldwide. On the other hand, peas can theoretically be grown anywhere warm. Soy milk is often made from genetically modified soybeans grown in monoculture and contaminated with pesticides. Pea milk, on the other hand, is GMO-free and contains no lactose, gluten, soy, nuts, or milk protein.
