After shopping, food should be kept as long as possible. Purchased groceries are placed in the refrigerator, because you don't want to eat them all at once, let alone eat them all in a few days. However, fruits and vegetables in particular should remain fresh and crisp for a long time. How could that be possible? This fruit is sensitive to cold and loses its flavor when refrigerated
Apples are very sensitive to cold; The cold makes it lose its taste. If you keep them unrefrigerated, they will stay fresh for up to a week or two.
The sooner you eat the berries, the better they taste. They develop their flavor best at room temperature. If you want to keep your berries fresh for a longer period of time, freeze them. However, remember to wash the berries afterwards before eating them.
Peaches, nectarines, plums, and apricots are also best ripened and stored at room temperature. Once ripe, you can store them in the refrigerator in the fruit compartment or eat them. Keep in mind that the fruit will lose some of its flavor due to the cold temperature in the refrigerator.
Bananas become soft and brown in cold temperatures, and are sensitive to cold. It is best to store them dry and, if necessary, in the basement. If you store bananas with apples and tomatoes, the ripening of the bananas will be accelerated.
Exotic fruits such as pineapple, mango, papaya and pomegranate also do not tolerate cold, they are used to warming temperatures and therefore can be stored better at room temperature until ripe.
Watermelon is best stored at room temperature. If you have already cut some of the watermelon, you can keep it fresh in the refrigerator for a day or two.
Because of the cold, unripe avocados take longer to ripen, so place them in a fruit bowl on the table. If you want it to cook faster, put it in a bag with an apple. However, if the avocado is already ripe, you can reduce the additional ripening process by storing it in the refrigerator and consuming it within three days at the latest. If you have already cut an avocado, you can sprinkle a little lemon juice on it to prevent the fruit from turning brown.
Acidic fruits such as lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruit and tangerines do not tolerate cold. It is best to place it open on a pot, it is used to warm temperatures. If the fruits have already been cut, the cut surfaces dry out slightly to protect themselves from rot. When cut, they can be kept for up to a week.
